If you use your car for work, then you too can benefit from car insurance from Direct Line, for example if you work from home and need to visit clients up and down the country, or you need your car to make deliveries. There are some exclusions depending on individual circumstances – for example, we won’t cover your vehicle if you use it in an area to which aircraft have access, if you are a taxi driver, or have a pick-up truck. We can confirm if you are eligible when you apply for a car insurance quote.

If you and a business colleague both need to use the same vehicle for work, then we can arrange your car insurance to cover you in this way by naming your business colleague as a driver on the policy. Bear in mind that a car used for business is not the same as a company car. Company cars should be insured by the company that owns or leases them, as fleet insurance, and Direct Line does not offer this kind of cover.

Our New Improved Car Insurance does, however, accept proof of Company Car No Claims Discount. This means that we will reward your claim-free driving with a No Claims Discount of up to five years, where you have recently relinquished a company car that you had sole use of. You must be over 25 and able to confirm that you have made no claims on the company policy in question.
